Every year in the moderately small town of Salisbury, there is an outdoor, orchestral concert. It is held in the heart of downtown Salisbury, and the symphony always performs beautifully. As you sit in the open air, with hundreds of people, surrounded by beautiful, old buildings, listening to delightful mixes of pop, classical and patriotic tunes played by the orchestra the experience becomes quite entrancing. This year, however, the concert had the added benefit of ultimately perfect weather. As the sun set behind the bell towers the almost full moon rose of over the simplistically beautiful skyline, which led to a delightfully cool and breezy night time.
The concert is annually named "Pops at The Post" because the main sponsor is usually Salisbury's local newspaper The Salisbury Post, also the symphony sets up in the loading dock of the Post's main building. The "Pops" part of the name is because they usually incorporate music from popular culture. For instance, this year they played the main theme from the fantastic movie Hook. This particular piece of music made me think of you guys. I imagined that, if you were present, how we would have discussed the awesomeness of this movie, and maybe even indulged in a rufeo chant.
All in all it was a great summer night, and to cap it all off, i got a funnel cake. This brought back many memories of child hood days spent at the county fair, where it was pretty much required to eat one of those deep fried hunks of doughy goodness. This night showed me again just how wonderful, and blessed my life has been. Thank God.
So, this is the first post of this blog. i am hoping that it will help me to better stay in touch with my friends. I also plan on putting up some other bits of artistic stuff that i have done, so stayed posted.

funnel cakes are so good, yet so freakin unhealthy. It's a dying shame.
ReplyDeleteEveryone could use a good funnel cake and ruffio chants in their life. Even though I am sure we have all gotten our fill of ruffio chants, and some of us funnel cakes, we will have to make sure to milk the cow as much as possible and do those things many times. August is gonna kick butt.
SWEET
ReplyDeleteA random thought I had while reading my Bible today. Like I said, I had been wondering why we liked movies so much. Today, and pretty my whole life, I had been wondering about the great mysteries of God, and once again came to the conclusion that my earthly self will never understand. However, I always figured once I got the Heaven it would be explained somehow.
Maybe the reason we like movies so much, (particularly ones that throw in a bunch of random stuff throughout the movie and then it all comes together at the end and you're like OHHHHH, so that's what that was for), is because they are a reflection of what it's going to be like when we get to heaven, except the feeling you get when you see an awesome movie when it all comes together is going to be 5 trillion times more awesome. We will finally understand things like eternal life, why God chose certain people to follow him (if you believe in predestination), etc etc..
Sorry to hijack your post, I had to type it out
